About Prophetic Whirlwind

Uncovering that the Scriptures are a Black book from Genesis to Revelation and revealing the spiritual destiny of the last who shall be made first.

In 2012, I prayed and fasted for two-weeks about my Hebrew identity and living Torah. On the last day of my fast I received a call from my prayer partner Danielle which confirmed that I needed to live a Torah based life. As I continued to research Torah through the eyes and history of African Hebrew tribes I started to feel led by the Ruach (spirit) to share what I was learning with Black youth I saw on social media floundering with unanswered questions related to faith. I started to post about Torah and the Black roots of the faith once delivered to the saints. After seeing what I was sharing on social media two African-American women saw the potential Yah (God) put in me and asked me to facilitate two sessions on the Black Presence in the Bible at Trinity Wall Street Church for Black History Month 2014. Those two women were Roz Hall and Roberta Todd of The Union of Black Episcopalians New York chapter. After that workshop people started to ask if I had a book and I didn’t have a book, social media or webpage but during this season Prophetic Whirlwind was born. The inspiration for the name Prophetic Whirlwind: Uncovering the Black Biblical Destiny came from the Honorable Marcus Garvey’s speech Look for Me in the Whirlwind. In this speech Garvey preached about who Black people were and who we would be through the spirit’s power.

From Genesis to Revelation Blacks are central in the Scriptures, yet this presence has been hidden due to prejudice and ignorance. Understanding the Black spiritual heritage is essential to understanding Black history and the freedom movement for justice. Prophetic Whirlwind seeks to uncover this rich history while inspiring through Biblical study and historical analysis. Understanding the Black foundation of the Bible will deepen and challenge your faith, while inspiring you to struggle for Biblical justice. Everyday millions of Black people read the Bible but it is like we are looking in the mirror but can’t recognize our own face.

The Mission of Prophetic Whirlwind is to uncover the Black Biblical Destiny through interactive workshops, lectures, articles, devotionals, social media and Bible studies. By studying to show ourselves approved we will move from shame to shalom and from oppression to liberation.

Prophetic Whirlwind Ministries Statement Against Hate & Disclaimer

As the writer of Proverbs 10:12 tells us, Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. As the numbers of hate crimes against African Americans, Asian-Americans, Jews of all races, and many others who are marginalized for various identities rise at alarmingly high rates, we become saturated with hateful messages, doctrines, and fear that can even come into our congregations and homes. As followers of The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Leah, and Rachel we know “love cast out fear.”  Though we are angered by the news of rising hate, rising incidents of police and intimate partner violence, and even verbal assaults towards women and people of color during election cycles Prophetic Whirlwind Ministries strive to be a Messianic Jewish fellowship of reconciliation, Biblical Justice, and healing. We understand that when members of marginalized groups read, watch, or hear of people with whom we identify in some way being targeted based upon their characteristics including, but not limited to heritage, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, age, ability, and the like this is painful and an attack on the imago Dei that we all possess.

Not only do our hearts grieve and our souls weep with every instance of hate, we at Prophetic Whirlwind Ministries unambiguously denounce the commission of all crimes against humanity including but not limited to racism, sexism, antisemitism (antisemitism), homophobia, classism, and colorism. As we seek to work in the community please know that the views and opinions of the ministries, organizations, podcasts, radio shows, television shows, radio stations, TV networks, individuals, NGOs, government agencies, conferences, panels and any body that Apostle Onleilove Chika Alston, Prophetic Whirlwind Ministries staff, volunteers and those of our affiliated businesses HerWisdom LLC and Chika’s Closet are solely those of the organization, body or person and do not represent the views and opinions of Prophetic Whirlwind Ministries, Apostle Onleilove Chika Alston, HerWisdom LLC or Chika’s Closet staff and volunteers. Violence and poor treatment of humankind are not in the tradition of The God of Israel, and we stand against any such occurrences whether verbal, written, or through acts of physical violence. We remain ever committed to shalom, justice, and mercy. We are committed to being led by the Ruach Ha’Kodesh (the Spirit of Yahweh’s wisdom) to connect, support, equip, and educate members of our community to cultivate and sustain a faith life and community of purpose, justice, and leadership. As always, we invite you to pray with us toward this end that we may continue our efforts to be a light to this world and reconciling agent between Africa and her Children scattered to the four corners of the earth.
